Are Southern Navarrans Basques or Spaniards?

As everbody knows, Im a strong supporter of Basque indipendentism against the tyrannical and oppressive government of Spain but Im also a fair minded and rational individual and Im not really sure why Southern Navarra is claimed by Basque independentists since it's not Basque speaking. I read that they were Basque speaking until 1600s and then switched to spanish so to me that's not enough for Basque nationalists to make territorial advances over Navarra South of the Ebro. Anyone else can confirm that or add any corrections?

This is obviously a troll post (tyrannical and opressive ? what a joke) but just to inform you, there are areas that have been part of Castile that were Basque speaking (Vizcaya, Alava, Rioja, Northern Burgos, etc)

The 3 French provinces are named Iparralde (the North)

And to complete your limited knowledge of Europe, my dear American/fake European, learn also that the Catalan countries don't only include Spain, but Andorra, a part of southern France and a little part of Sardinia too.

No you don't get it. The whole Aquitanians (not just french basques) are ethnically similar to basques/navarrese/northern spaniards, and they are Gascons (Occitans), and their surnames are not basque.
