I set it so that only friends and Mods/Admins can PM me. Helpful to weed out all the annoying 'plz classify me' messages

Well, you can use it like Twitter following feature. If you're interested in someone's posts/threads, add him/her as your friend and then you can see his/her posts in your profile. Something like subscription.

Oh ~ I see. that's why I see no use.
I only click on ''new posts'', and never on my profile and/or in the main page (where you can see the chat and such).

Many members I get along with well aren't even on my friendlist and many on my friendlist are people I never talk to. However, sending some people friend requests is a sign of weakness to me. It's meaningless in the end. We relate to one another in a more complex manner.

It's pointless. Back when Facebook was growing, people rightfully laughed at how stupid it was to have several hundred "friends" from which you probably only know a dozen or so (the rest being "friends of friends of friend" who you've never seen or talked to in your life) in your list.

Fast forward, and it's socially expected to have lots and lots of shallow social contacts all over the Internet, almost as if every name on your always growing list of unknown "friends" were a badge of honour of some sort.

Anyway, whenever I get a random friend request on social media I often wonder if this is some negro in Nigeria just trying to bait me for money or is it a foreign intelligence just trying to prod me for information.

I just use them now as a source of ego boost. Just collect hundreds of hot thots in my list out here in Canada, but never message them lel.
