I is a reason but not the first reason. The reason of this revolution or reformul in the rumun language, has nothing to do with the shepherds in the mountains. This process happened in the XIX century and coincidence with the process of the creation of nation states. Reform was necessary because in the face of challenges, the Romanian language was not able to give a solution. The hardest tests for a language are just when you are trying to build a state. Because here the real challenges begin. You have to write a Constitution, a Civil and Criminal Code and so many other things like these. The Romanian language, it seems, did not have the right means to address these challenges. The reason? You have to find it right in the name of your nation, rumun, that you have changed in Romanian. A shepherd and a rumun (bondsman) during his entire can use merely 300 words in all.

I am not an expert of Romanians but I am guessing they are Dacian/Thracian/Scythian with a dash of Slavic, Germanic and Greek.
