Default Zampogna: The Soul of Southern Italy

Zampogna: The Soul of Southern Italy. A feature length documentary film about Southern Italian culture told through its indigenous folk music. The film focuses on how these traditions are dealing with the rapid changes in local economy and the homogenizing effect globalization has on local culture. Filmed by an Italian American rediscovering his family's roots, the film takes the viewer on an odyssey through remote regions in Sicily, Calabria, Campania and Molise introducing the people who carry on these ancient traditions that most Italian Americans are completely unaware of. The Zampogna - the Italian bagpipe is the physical manifestation of this culture, its music representing the spirit and vitality of the Southern Italian.
The documentary in full is also available on YouTube.

    Nope, it's Italy.

Maybe the guy visited Turkey and bought a flag as a souvenir? Or given to him as a gift?

Wow, there is obviously a connection with the Tsampouna, a Greek island bagpipe.

The tsampouna actually gets its name from zampogna, which itself is from Greek.

The word "zampogna" is etymologically related to the Greek sumfōnia (Greek: συμφωνία), meaning "concord or unison of sound"[1] (from σῠν- sun-, "with, together" + φωνή phōnḗ, "sound") and applied later to a type of bagpipe.[2] It cognates to tsampouna, the word for the Greek island bagpipe, itself a reborrowing of zampogna.[3] Its Romanian counterpart is cimpoi, which means "symphony" or "many sounds played together" and Georgian čiboni.
It reminds me of the Bulgarian gaida too.
