What have the Ionian city states of Asia Minor like Ephesos,Smyrna,Miletus and the Dorian city states Halikarnassos,Knidos "doric Pentapolis" to do with Syria?
The west of Asia Minor had almost nothing to do with Syrians and Semites, and was populated by native greeks since homeric times.
Lydians,Phrygians have more overlapp with greeks than with semites.
