What's the definition of mentally ill?
I have a strict definition.
I consider anyone who talks to himself while doing some tasks as mentally ill, that's like a good chunk of the population if not majority.

Enflamme (if the guy is real) is by far the most emotionally unstable here. He should call the emergency number.

I always think that members who constantly modify their nicknames and avatars may have some issues.

Why? Everything changes & is in constant flux, but yes it can signify some kind of instability. But on the other hand, I consider someone who holds onto the same nickname & avatar to have issues too, namely taking themselves way too seriously.

Yeah, Bipolar I is more severe that Bipolar II. When I get it, I get it bad. I also become psychotic. I had a crazy episode in 2002 which could have led to an arrest. I will never forget that day. I went a very expensive harbour in Cape Town and at one of the high class, expensive restaurants I ordered myself an expensive cocktail (I am convinced I'm very high-class and rich when I'm manic). I walked out of the place with the cocktail, found myself an expensive yacht, climbed on and settled myself down on the deck with my book and cocktail. When security realised that I didn't belong to the yacht, and that it didn't belong to me, they told me to get off. I stood there, cocktail waving, shouting that they must leave me alone and I'm enjoying the afternoon on my yacht. Things got a bit hairy when more security arrived and they threatened me with arrest. I climbed off the boat, with my book under one arm (Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov) and left my empty cocktail glass on the deck. I don't know what it was that day with boats and the sea, but later I enjoyed an evening sunset cruise with free sherry on a catamaran. After that, I went to the casino and gambled the rest of my money away. I'd just been paid that day and I blew an entire month's salary in the space of an afternoon and evening.

I used to be on lithium but it didn't agree with me and that is why I wasn't taking it. I had to go for blood tests once a month, which I failed to do, and ended up in hospital with lithium toxicity. The lithium also killed my thyroid. I was lucky in that after I stopped the lithium my thyroid started functioning on its own again, which in many cases it doesn't. I have picked up some weight after starting the meds I am taking now, and combined with the medication for the MS hasn't helped.

Genetic. My grandfather had it too. I never met him but my mom said when she saw me starting to behave strangely it was like watching her father in action. Fortunately I don't have access to firearms, but my grandfather did and he shot at anything and everything. He'd go mole hunting in the backyard with his revolver. Whenever a mole pushed a hill, or he could see movement under the ground, he started shooting. There was also a noisy little rooster whom he shot at. He didn't hit the rooster but the bullet went through the garage, missing the new Mercedes Benz by a few inches.

If I had access to a gun I would shot myself years ago.

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I can just turn them off whenever I want. Because I see it as something separate from me which I can control, and not a part of me. I'm just guessing. There is something nagging me 24/7, for many years. What is this? Is this an emotion? Is this nothingness? I don't know what it is. If nothingness, then perhaps it's a lack of emotion? If an emotion, I don't know what emotion it is.
