t just occurred to me that there are quite a few similarities between the two.
The first one that is obvious is that are climates are very similar.
Our populations tend to be more spread out.
We for the most part are on the edge of countries that have had a much stronger influence on the world.
We have border that are not as well defined as our neighbors.
We lack a history of conquest.
Canada unlike the states was not defined so strongly by protestant values, and at the same time our link to latin or catholic europe is also very weak.
We tend to live in mix states where more than one language is spoken(ukraine, romania, etc)
We historically were the less financially stable members of our respective continents.
