74.6% of the French electorate voted in the final round of the 2017 presidential election. That is the lowest participation in a presidential election since 1969. 11.5% of the votes were blank or invalid (and the remaining 88.5% of the votes were valid votes for one candidate or the other). Macron's share was 66.1%, Le Pen's 33.9%.
The real shares can thus be calculated precisely as follows:
Macron: 0.746 x 0.885 x 0.661 = 0.43639881
Le Pen: 0.746 x 0.885 x 0.339 = 0.22381119
Would people think differently about politics if media reported the results this way?
EDIT:
The real figures after checking for errors:
Macron: 41,7%
Le Pen: 21,4%
(See post #5 where I explain how.)
