Wicca started in the late 19th century, got public in the early 20th (Gardner the Traitor), with virtually zero connection to older wise women/witch magic which became totally redundant in the past 200 years or so.
If you put hermetic stuff, kabbalah, alchemy and all the other magical traditions from the Middle Ages upwards under sorcery it can be used as a proper general name for these stuffs.
