Default Canada and USA similarities!! I think our two Anglophone Countries are very similar!

Except for the French Speaking part of Canada. I think the USA and Canada are very similar even in ethnic make-up.

I remember as a young American watching Degrassi on TV. The ethnic makeup on this show is very much like the USA looks like a melting pot just look at the opening of the show.

I always joked and said Canada is the 51st state. The one odd thing is the money having a Elizabeth II on it. Americans have no royalty and still have bitterness to King George III from the revolutionary war.

They are pretty similar in general, although there are lots of minor differences. Ethnicity wise, they are fairly similar, although not all areas of Canada are all that similar to areas directly across on the U.S. side of the border.

This is generally true, although I must say Canada has far more Ukrainians. There are actually slightly more people in absolute numbers with Ukrainian ancestry in Canada than in the USA (so obviously on a per capita basis the difference is quite pronounced). It is primarily the in Prairie provinces that you find Ukrainian-Canadians.

yes I think they are similar, and only because Canada copies America way too much, especially their youth, they say American slang, dress like us, behave like us, do our dances lol

It's striking how similar Canada is to the U.S. but Montreal is like a satellite of France with its highly developed public transportation system. Canada is also more in line with Europe when it comes to liberal policies, quasi-legal marijuana, harm-reduction centered drug treatment, National Health Service, OTC tylenol with codeine, disability discounts for cuddling houses and prostitution, etc. In these ways Canada is superior to the U.S.

They shouldn't have changed their flag. If you swear an oath to the Queen, whether semantically the "Queen of Canada" or not, you're still essentially a British dominion (government stationary is still legally allowed to use the descriptor "Dominion of Canada").

Apparently, the flag below was the public's favourite but it was overlooked. It would have been a good compromise.

"A last-minute flag design was slipped into the mix by historian (and Liberal) George Stanley – not part of the contest, by the way – with a single red maple leaf centred between two red bars on a white background. Remember – the Pearson Pennant with the blue bars was the Canadian people’s choice – and we were told this would be the winner. Except, when the smoke had cleared, the Flag Committee chose George Stanley’s design of red and red and red on white."
