Yeah, we find this "hero+special sword" kind of situation in other cultures too, like in the legend of king Arthur with Excalibur or Susanoo with his Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi.
Ali was the hero of Islam, as stated by Muhammad himself according to shias :
لا فتى إلا علي لا سيف إلا ذو الفقار
lā fata ʾillā ʿAlī; lā sayf ʾillā Ḏū l-Fiqār.
"There is no hero like Ali; There is no sword like Dhu-l-Fiqar"

There is a pretty rich history in the depiction of Muhammad in art
As long as it's purely for art and not for religious use as icons or objects of veneration, I think it's great
