No...Im not European, so my commentary is as an outsider observing intra-European and extra-European dynamics. Europeans are, due to technological and scientific superiority on top of the global 'hierarchy'. But within this European niche, there is a vast gap (way way bigger gap than the one of European vs others) between North Europeans and South Europeans, particularly Iberians. Everywhere Iberians and North Europeans lived together outside of Europe...Iberians were on a bottom rung below the North Euro, and I just pointing this observation out...this is true whether the setting is Hawaii or South Africa.

What you want to do is make me focus on the European-vs-non European/African/SSA differences because that is an easy, emotional satisfying observation to make...when the bigger phenomona to observe is your middling position vis-a-vis Northerners.

In Brazil immigrants worked in the plantations. Here is a quote from wikipedia:
