THIS IS NOT THE NAZI SALUTE!
I hate people being so ignorant saying this. Just like the "nazis" were national socialists and not nazis. This was called the hilter/ nazi salute to defame it. Mussolini believed that the Romans would use this salute, so he used it as he was going to "bring back the Roman empire". It was then adopted by other fascist groups and became a pan-fascist salute. I want all you ignoramuses to show me these tall blonde people doing this salute en mass prior to 1940. This salute was used before Mussolini's blackshirts, but he started it as far as political groups are concerned. Again;
Greeks:
Estonians:
Romanians:
Italians (the originals)
Brazilians:
All doing the ROMAN SALUTE, not the Hitler or Nazi salute. The only tall blondes doing this somewhat were the puppet government of Quisling which was universally hated by Norwegians. Today Quisling is a synonym for traitor in the Norwegian language. Fascism was not anti-semitic nor nordicist ideology. A lot of jews supported Mussolini and jews even had their own fascist party, google "Revisionist Maximalism"

A belief that isn't attested in a single Roman source. Regardless, this Bulgarian official was saluting a wax figure of a WWII German officer. Within that context it is the Hitlergruß (or Deutscher Gruß).
Hitler in 1928:
Berlin, 1933:
Wittenberg, 1933:
Berlin, 1935:
Olympic games, 1936:
Why rant about it anyway?
Spoiler!

I didn't claim that Hitler didn't do it, or that Germans didn't do it. I just stated that it was a pan-fascist salute, not a "nazi salute" since the Italian fascists used it before Hitler. Hitler's national socialists used it exactly because they copied Mussolini. It's the same reason they had brownshirts; because Mussolini had his blackshirts. National socialists were basically Mussolinis fascists + nordicism. How is this salute then a "nazi salute"?? Germans aren't exactly the "nordics" they worshiped. If this salute was a "nordic" salute, then where are the Swedes and Norwegians doing it en mass? I ranted about it because whenever a southern European does it, he's automatically called a "nazi" and a wannabe nordic when that doesn't make sense..... This salute was done (prior to WW2) mostly by non-nordics and was politically used firstly by meds, so what's nazi or nordic about the salute?
