Rugby won´t substitute football, never, I think that any known sport will never replace football.

While in many sports you have to be tall (basketball), strong-musculous (rugby, american football), agile-fast (handball), in football almost any person can pla with a good performance: tall, short, strong, weak, fast or slow people, anyone can have a rule in the team, it´s an sport addapted to any kind of physical features.

That´s the reason why it´s the most popular sport in the world by far.

Even in the USA the MLS is growing very fast (and not only due to hispanics)

Rugby is too expensive and physically demanding for most people.

This, its more "democratic", and even children in Africa or south asia can play it.

My thoughts exactly. It is entirely based on demand. Laissez-faire.

Football more interesting sport as entertainment, a lot of scenarios during the match and and more common that underdogs winning the favorite.

That is what I dispute. Rugby is much more varied than football - you can use your hands other than just for throw-ins and viciously tackle people, for starters.

and more common that underdogs beat the favorite.
    Now that is very true.

I mean that the main object in both games ia the ball. And in football it it can move in different directions at different speeds and change its flight path very quickly. It is interesting for people, effect of surprise. While in rugby it takes a long time to struggle. Often when a player runs to the line, you already know in advance that he will earn points. Same with the penalties, in football it is always have some dramatism.
