It's because most people haven't bothered to read the material. Years ago, a user called Agrippa created a classification schema which was loosely based on the work of Coon et. al. but included a lot of his own definitions. Then, a (now-defunct) website called humanphenotypes.com popped up, and it included pictures of each "type". Each of these pictures was made by averaging a handful of photos which the creator thought to be representative of the racial types, although he did not do any sort of measurement. Most of the "classification" that goes on here is based on perceived visual similarity to the humanphenotypes.com images.
