The campaign against enforced hijab in Iran has seen women defying morality police in public and even shaving their hair. Now men are also joining the fight



Men in Iran are wearing hijabs in a display of solidarity with women across the country who are forced to cover their heads in public.

Wearing a headscarf is strictly enforced by so-called 'morality police' in Iran and has been since the Islamic Revolution in 1979. Women who do not wear a hijab or are deemed to be wearing 'bad hijab' by having some of their hair showing face punishments ranging from fines to imprisonment.

State-funded adverts appearing on billboards in Iran present those who do not cover their hair as spoiled and dishonourable. Women are also told that by not complying, they are putting themselves at risk of unwanted sexual advances from men.

But women are leading protests against enforced hijab across the country and some have resorted to shaving their hair in order to appear in public without wearing a veil.

Iranians are honest in general, yes. They are smart people too, and they don't seem to cause a lot of trouble in the west like the Turks and the Maghrebi migrants in Europe.

IDK about that since I haven't come across many Iranians and Turks although one of my mom's best friend was a very nice Iranian lady. I was more referring to globally. One thing the anti-islamic neo-cons that agitate for invasion of Iran never mention is the fact that pretty much all terrorism is Sunni, not shia, so go figure why they target Iran. What the fuck is up with Iran? Nothing, they're not the threat to the west, but the neo-cons will never admit that. They'll keep kissing Saudi ass while demonizing Iran and Iranians.

Might that be because Iran was never admitted into any guest worker programme so most of their immigrants are well-skilled, qualified people. Turkey and Germany signed an agreement and ANYONE, especially those unskilled, unqualified rural people got a chance to go to Germany. If Turkey was not a part of this we wouldn't have had such a large diaspora and like Iran our immigrants would have been well-educated and sophisticated people like in Britain, America.

For example Turks in Britain are never a part of the immigration-related problems out there. I asked a British friend and he said they don't catch an eye despite their large number implying that they are well-assimilated unlike all these Pakistanis, Bangladeshis etc. who are crazy for Sharia and Islam. He was also an ardent supporter of Turkey joining the EU for that reason.
