#DogsAtPollingStations: the best election tradition
carries on as Britain turns out to vote
8th June 2017
There may have been so many elections recently that we are getting a bit fatigued by it all.
However, there is one thing we Brits will never tire of, and that is taking photographs of our pet dogs at polling stations and posting them online.
Why do we do it? Why did it start? We may never have the answers to these questions.
But #dogsatpollingstations is a staple British tradition and it isn't going to stop anytime soon.
This article will be updated all day, so keep checking back for the definitive round-up of the cutest dogs (and other pets) at polling stations.
Antonia's dog did not respect the gravity of the occasion
She told The Telegraph: "He feels under represented!! Where are manifestos that reflect a dog's right to nap on beds and receive a minimum of two new squeaky toys per month, to destroy as he sees fit! #freedom #powertopuppies"
WE GOT A CAT!
A reader says: "My mum decided to take our cat Molly to vote with her. Whilst it might seem an odd way to transport a cat, I can assure you that my mum regularly carries Molly around in a bag-for-life, and as a large house-bound creature I think Molly rather enjoys these outings. "
Some people even took pet rats to the polling station.
DemocRATic rattie!
