Macron Tells Young People: Use Democracy to Fight Barbarity
ORADOUR-SUR-GLANE, France – French President Emmanuel Macron has called on young people to remember past wars and use democratic means to fight against today’s barbarities during a commemoration at the site of the deadliest massacre in Nazi-occupied France.
Macron told 500 children aged 12 to 16 in Oradour-sur-Glane in western France that “we would like to be able to say that from now on this happens away from home or that it no longer happens. But Rwanda or Yugoslavia yesterday, Syria today. They are only a few hours by plane.”
On June 10, 1944, an SS armored division herded villagers into barns and a church, blocked the doors, and set them ablaze – 642 people died, six survived.
Macron slowly walked in the ruins, which are preserved as a testimony to Nazi horrors.

Vincent Reynouard - Oradour sur Glane, to blame on the Resistance
In this video, Reynouard reacts on the lawsuits of recent weeks against the former Oradour SS, Werner C.
Based on the testimony of C. Werner and new documents, he sets the sequence of events that occurred June 10, 1944 in Oradour.
He explains why, caught between a church that had exploded and men, who in barns, threatened to become uncontrollable, the SS shot them, before rushing as reinforcements to the holy place.
Vincent Reynouard finally challenges the current mayor of Oradour, who expressed support prosecutions against Werner C. on the grounds that everyone is accountable for his actions, regardless the time they occured. Reynouard explains to him, that the acts must not be distorted by false official thesis. Then he discusses the general context of the case and the problem of the resistance.
The author's shocking conclusion is: it isthe guerrillas who bear the primary responsibility of the drama of Oradour, because without their action, there would have been no ranking SS abucted the day before (this is why the SS came in Oradour this June 10, 1944), nor clandestine depot of ammunition above women and children heads who were locked in the church ..
A must see documentary!
