Cretans are genetically almost exactly like Sicilians (only difference being no North African in Cretans, and the difference is made up in affinity to the Caucasus). This is not true for people from the mainland (except the far southern Peloponnese where the people are TRANSITIONAL between the rest of the mainland and Sicily/Crete). Cretans also have more Levantine influence in their features than the other Aegean islanders do, and are better fitting in places like Calabria and Palermo rather than in Epirus or Thessaly. It seems to be some Greeks on here try to group mainland Greeks with Aegean islanders and Sicilians/south Italians also to distance themselves from Albanians, despite that mainlanders and Albanians are the closest people to one another genetically.
