Trans people exist in all sexual orientations. There are gay trans people, but also straight, bi, asexual, so forth

The view was generally that if someone has something innate in them that makes them act more like someone of the opposite gender, that should be respected, and as long as they hold themselves to proper Islamic standards they do no wrong.

With modern medical techniques, we can go further in helping these people live a proper lifestyle than Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), could with mere kindness and mercy. We can help them to fit the gender-role they wish to fulfill.
