Why would you expect otherwise? Love for non-human life forms is a distinctly European trait. When is the last time you saw a person of color keeping a pet for companionship (keeping a pitbull chained outside your house to intimidate neighbors doesn't count), or tending a garden, or heading initiatives to save the environment? People of color love torturing animals. For instance,
the Chinese like to skin dogs and cats alive and then boil them to death before eating them. Iranians like to kill stray dogs by injecting them with acid. Why use sodium pentobarbital when you don't get to see the dog writhing in agony?
Mexicans prefer to blow up their dogs with fireworks.
As people of European descent, we are instinctively horrified. But logically, there is no evolutionary advantage to loving non-human life forms or not liking to torture animals, just as there is no evolutionary advantage to caring about people outside of our own ethnic group (or caring about other people at all). The genes which cause us to care about animals and the environment are probably the same genes which caused the Danish people to let those Muslims into their country.
