The Aryan definition encompasses just about all people from Europe to India. With the expection of Semitic people and some others. The Indo European/Aryan/Iranian languages are all related.

For example the Nazi Nuremberg laws from the 1930s looked at Non-Jewish Europeans as Aryan. They were strictly aimed at restricting Jewish people from society which they are a Semitic people historically. Many people use the word Aryan to feed their own agenda I suppose.

Vedic Sanskrit is not the same as Classical Sanskrit. Hindi, Gujarati and other modern day Indo-Aryan languages are derivatives of the latter while Avestan is identical to the former.
