    I did K36 nMonte with use of some ancient samples for Early Medieval Slav (RISE568).

    And he came out like this (I expected Hungarians BR2, BR1 and IR1 instead of I0803):

    RISE598 72.8 ---> Late Bronze Age (Lithuania)
    I0803 23.8 ---> Unetice culture (East Germany)
    I0247 3.5 ---> Iron Age Volga Scythian (Russia)

    And he got 0% from all other samples used in this simulation:

    PLN17 0.0
    RISE150 0.0
    RISE577 0.0
    RISE566 0.0
    RISE586 0.0
    RISE154 0.0
    IR1 0.0 ---> Iron Age Hungary
    RISE174 0.0
    RISE276 0.0
    I0099 0.0
    I1955 0.0
    BR2 0.0 ---> Bronze Age Hungary
    BR1 0.0 ---> Bronze Age Hungary

    RISE373 0.0
    RISE397 0.0
    RISE374 0.0
    RISE412 0.0
    I0047 0.0
    I0116 0.0
    I0164 0.0

    But in RISE568's Closest Single Populations, Hungarian BR1 is 2nd after RISE598:

    [1] "1. CLOSEST SINGLE ITEM DISTANCES"
    RISE598 BR1 RISE276 PLN17 I0803 RISE174 RISE566 I0116
    22.07262 32.35667 34.11400 35.19579 40.53543 40.85405 42.25327 42.59844

    We don't have good quality ancient Thracian samples, so I couldn't use them.

    If a foreign tribe invades for example the Thracians, kill all their males and breed with the Thracian females can their children say they are Thracians?

    The OP is about ancestry of Proto-Slavs, not modern Slavs.

    Proto-Slavs were definitely similar to Balts, but not identical.

    They were probably Southern or South-Western Balto-Slavs.

    Soon we will have Slavic DNA from Early Medieval Poland:

    Niemcza - 31 samples dated to 900-1000 AD
    Sowinki - 19 samples dated to 1000-1100 AD
    Markowice - 8 samples dated to 1000-1200 AD
    Gniezno - 2 samples dated to 1000-1200 AD
    Łegowo - 8 samples dated to 1000-1200 AD

    And even more (this is only one part of these samples).

    There will be also samples from Pre-Slavic Poland, including:

    Kowalewko - 48 samples dated to 100-300 AD
    Masłomecz - 24 samples dated to 200-400 AD
