We have 3 millions of christians in Syria, and who is siding with them isn't USA or ISrael, but Assad, Hezbollah, Iran and Russia.

The political establishment in Washington is determined to prolong conflict in Syria and escalate tensions with Russia. Trump has absolutely no control over this. I think his administration is proving more clearly than any previous ones that the presidency is simply a puppet position.

This escalation has been a long time coming. It was inevitable that the US would at some point have to raise the stakes to break the deadlock and advance its interests. The US still wants Assad gone, and still wants to contain (and ultimately destroy) Iran.

Not a good move on Iran's part. They are doubling down on their Syria effort, but ultimately it will be a waste of time, money, life and potentially give the US an excuse to attack - an excuse it is looking for.
