mortimer i understand your point that there could have been another way but she attacked the officers witha knife. I think its unfair to put the blame on the cops.

she didnt attacked them with a knife she just had a knife in her hand and said come at me. no way she needed to die. you are stupid, if that happens to your mentally ill mother you would see.

She was not harmless. But having a gun means you have the most control of the situation. A knife is almost useless compared to a gun. And a police officer should be able to shoot a person solely in the leg without much problems. They are trained to shoot right from distance. They are not amateurs. When you shoot someone in the leg, especially a pregnant woman, she will not be able to stand for even a few more seconds. It would be over with one shot to her leg. Killing her was a murder.

If a weapon jams, one officer in front of the other, what would be the result? What if she turned upon the Children? You use the same argument everyone uses, why not shoot them in the leg? I read somewhere that few police officers ever discharge their weapons in the line of duty. And many who do, miss. This is not a hollywood movie.

well she was mentally ill, im mentally ill and i know how it is to be mentally ill. first there was a burglary and she called the cops for help herself, but she was mentally ill thats why she said come at me. no way she was that dangerous that they needed to kill her.

As I said before in my opinion cops abuse their power and 9 times out of 10 aren't justified in shooting anyone. Also, they could have just tazed or pepper sprayed her.

Now if any of them had threatened anybody, they too would have been shot, no matter their skin colour. And this is in New Zealand.

There could have been a better way to take care of this situation. She did not have to die while struggling with a mental illness...especially with her own kids watching her being shot and killed. This will not be good on their well being at all...I do not wish to even think about how they will perceive the world now and what they might do for justice one day.
