How do you define "being close to European ethnic groups"? Greek Cypriots are definitely ethnically close to Greek mainlanders (with everything included, not just genetics), and it would be absurd to consider them different races. Also, Sicilians are genetically closer to Levantine Arab populations, Persians, and North African Jews than they are to Northern Europeans (not saying that Sicilians look like said ethnic groups, but they are autosomally closer to Middle Easterners than they are to Northern Europeans).

European can be a cultural pan-identity, just like Arab is a pan identity, but when you try to claim that there is a genetic basis for Europeaness, your argument becomes as flawed as saying there is a genetic basis for Arabness (Arabs come from East Africa, the Gulf, and the Levant).

many people use the word "gypsy" to describe travelers or people who look, live or behave in a "certain way" (if u know what i mean)...but not all of them are of roma origins. i don't think there are roma gypsies in south america tho.

Umm.. Nope. That's false. Romanians are virtually unmixed with gypsies. Cases exist but admixture happened like 1 or two generations ago.
