Average people can't tell their ethnicity apart from different groups

The average Russian won't recognize a British in a crowd of Russians neither a Russian in a crowd of British. Italians won't recognize a Saudi or French, unless he's extremely dark or very fair.
I just think people put too much emphasis on events which barely exist in real life. People regardless of ethnicity can have far more common in terms of physic than taxonomy based terms. A fat British will look more like a fat Russian than a British with thin physic for example.

It's just not true. A saudi would stick out in almost all parts of Italy he wouldn't be typical. A Russian in a crowd of Brits might not stick out but for the most part they will still look different. There are differences in ethnic groups, so what? It makes the world better and more interesting

I can tell southern Italians from most groups except for Cyprus, Jews, etc. but on an individual level it's harder.
