Greeks wiped out native Anatolian languages as you know. You can blame Uighurs in the east with Toharian affair but not us Yeah the Rome and Latin culture wiped out Celtics tbh. In fact if you Germans werent barbarians who crushed Rome you would share same fate like Celts

It reminded me from one thread in old forum where I used to write....written by fantastic Irish female member, quoted for truth:
AmenI'm getting fed up with the misconception that Celts are the same as Germanics. We're not. We Celts are lyrical, humourous, vivacious, spiritual, mostly Catholic and certainly not descended from the same people. What we saved, you lot destroyed. Whilst we taught in monasteries, you eejits had a BBQ with the essential knowledge that would revive Europe and make her great. You killed our monks, our women and children. You stole our people and our goods and brought carnage to a peaceful land.
So I wish the confusion would stop right now.
Sorry for thinking out loud.

Another jewel which I wish to share
Celts may be small in number, but their spirit still lives in some individuals.Germanics are godless, souless fiends and always have been. Us Celts are full of zest and character. Who do they think they are attaching themselves to us.

Well, being from Belgium I'm probably a mongrel Germanic with noticeable Celtic ancestry. Haven't tested my DNA. But seriously, those ancestors are Gaulish Celts and they died out long ago. Where I live Germanic and Celts supposedly live next to one another and the Celts were heavily Germanic influenced. It was the linguistic border of both cultures.

As much as people like to blame the English, the blame for the sorry state of Irish today is to be placed on the Irish themselves. They will not reinvent Irish pedagogy to treat Irish as a living language, and the newest generation of Irish have basically rejected Irish because they feel it was forced on them at school (using many of the same methods which the English used to force English on them). I have posted on here about my Pan-Gaelic standardization and media proliferation proposal, but Irish revivalists do not have good sense. 1 million Irish have declared that their command of the language is decent, but it is impossible to really know the real number of L2 speakers. If such numbers are to be believed, then the extinction of the Irish language should not be assumed to be a sure thing just yet.
