'Mama mia' jokes about over-the-top Italian food are pretty overdone, but the offering at one New York eatery may have earned an exception.
Pizza Barn in Yonkers, New York has been open since 1975 and known to locals ever since. But the eatery has recently become nationally drool-worthy thanks to Instagram and an appearance on the Travel Channel show Food Paradise.
Diners have been sharing snaps of themselves with their own two-foot-long slices, which look quite comical since they're about three times as long as the average person's face.
That's a big-a pizza! A New York pizzeria is selling these enormous two-foot-long slices of pizza
Flocking to the spot: The huge slices are available at Pizza Barn in Yonkers
Getting creative: The slices need their own special boxes because of their strange size and shape
That is huge: They don't even fit on a pizza pan and need an extra paper plate
Each individual slice is two feet, or 24 inches, long — and about the same size as a large pie in most places.
In fact, because it's so large and shaped unconventionally, Pizza Barn even has a special box for such slices when they are ordered for take-out.
'I was just thinking of creating something different,' owner Angelo DeLuca told The Journal News. 'There's a lot of people that make big pies so I wanted to do something different... and no one really makes a big slice.'
A basic plain super slice goes for $12 with tax, while toppings — which include classics like pepperoni, peppers, chicken, and veggies, as well as specialties like mac 'n cheese and cheeseburgers with fries — can bring the total up to $32.

For sharing: According to the owner, no one has finished an entire slice on his or her own in his presence
Nom nom: This kid (right) seems more than a bit overwhelmed by the slice, which can be cut into more manageable pieces
Naturally, each slice can feed multiple people, and many customers order them to share.
However, others are buying single slices for themselves, biting into them for a fantastic photo op.
'I had a few customers try [eating it alone] and they almost finished it but I had to put [the leftovers] in a bag,' DeLuca added.
Servers at Pizza Barn also wear T-shirts advertising the slice, which read 'Size does matter' across the back.
Woah: In May, a group of 100 chefs broke the record for the world's longest pizza which was over a mile long
It required 2,000 kg (4,409 lbs) of flour, 1,600 kg (3,527 lbs) of tomatoes, 2,000 kg (4,409 lbs) of mozzarella, 200 liters of oil, 30 kg (55 lbs) of fresh basil, and 1500 liters of water to make
While the Yonkers eatery claims to make the biggest slice of pizza in the world, the biggest pizza in the world, period, was unveiled in Naples, Italy in May.
A group of 100 chefs worked together for 11 hours to cook the dish, which spanned two kilometers (1.24 miles) along and was set out along the coastline.
