That is a urban myth. East Asians have dark skin naturally, darker than swarthiest southern Europeans and on par with lighter middle easterners. They just live in cooler climate and avoid tanning because in their culture fair skin is a desired trait.
Natural East Asian skintone is something like this, and if they sunbathed in summer, it would be fully brownish.

In the last photo women are significantly lighter than men, because they avoid sun. Otherwise they'd be equally dark.

the picture you used is japanese.. they are unique compared to koreans/chinese in terms of physical appearance. yayoi and jomon is majority of their race.. .
that's why some look darker & some look lightskin like koreans.. but ofcourse their skin color yue is totally different from europeans or middle eastern.

Koreans may be lightskinned for Asian standards (because of their high Siberian admixture), but they are certanly dark for European ones.
This is how real Koreans look like, I will use photos from North Korea (which shoulds be lighter than south), where is no present cosmetic industry/skin bleaching creams and other things South Korean pop stars and people use in everyday life:







They can be ''pale'' when untanned, but give them few months in mediterranean sun and they'd turn out as dark as Arabs. Koreans as lightest East Asians completely lack rosy skin tones that would classify them as light and in European eyes they are swarthy cathegory. They aren't lighter than Iranians.

^ correct.. but most of them are soldiers who stay in the sun.. that's why they get dark like that.. it's very different from euro-caucasians going to a tan salon, ending up looking red/tanned.
