What European civilization are you most interested in?

Romance. Germanic (esp. Old Norse, some early medieval 'German') in close second. I've always felt that though I have British, Irish, and German roots, Rome was the source of my spiritual and intellectual heritage. The aesthetics of Hellenism, of which Romanitas is a sort of offshoot, has always appealed to me very deeply.



I'm interested also in the Norse, in Skaldic poetry, and in their traditional insult poetry (a kind of Norse proto-rap). I also listened to a lecture on early medieval German kinship and how it different from later times when other homogenizing, continental forces came into play.

A balance of all is best. No idea, it shifts with my mood. Slavic or Romance because they're foreign to me perhaps, but North Germanic and even Germans are are already, so are Anglo-Saxons.
