    Byzantine empire mantained the true Christian Tradition and the Holy Roman Empire was a corrupted barbaric enterprise that leaded Western Europe to it's current downfall and degeneration. Byzantine Empire was a true empire, inspired by God and respectful of all traditional local rites (as you can see that Greek rite is different from a Syrian rite and from a Russian rite).

    The answer is quite obvious.
