They will fizzle out. Many younger Shias are disgusted by their behavior. The new generation will be the key to heal the nation, but if there is interference from somewhere else, maybe its hard to heal, but the majority want this to end. It's quite recent it began in 2003, with the climax in 2006 civil war, with 2014 the rise of ISIS , the same time the people in the Northwest wanted more representation, and more spending on their areas, which Maliki ignored, and there vaccum that was left. Also some believe the KRG had role in it, since they want to annex Kirkuk, so after 2003 which seems unlikely, Iraq was basically balkanized with each region having its own issues, in the West tribal leaders took role instead of the government, and were practically independent.
