Default Do you believe in Allan Kardec? Spiritism...

It is a very well known "religion" in Brazil and has many followers. I agree in some beliefs.
I think Loki should make a section for this because we have even Islam, but okay.

Allan Kardec based all of his knowledge on mediums. As far as I am aware, mediumship is a complete hoax. The Fox sisters, who began this entire belief system, confessed to it. After seeing a display of “table turning” in which the "spirit" causes a table to spin, he became convinced that the spirit was trying to communicate. However, three years earlier, Michael Faraday had explained the phenomenon of ideomotor response, in which muscles can move independently of deliberate thought and thus move tables.

This interpretation of spiritualism has been imported in the 1800s, and most notably in England (Victorian era saw the birth of spiritualism, the popularity of seances and fortune-telling, and the creation of secret societies. Occasionally, communing with the Devil or astral projection to other planets was on the schedule) and in France, the latter being the work of a lawyer named Hippolyte Léon Denizard Rivail (then he became Allan Kardec), who was a socialist who was desperate enough to give a "spiritual" reason as to why people were not all born in equal initial conditions.

It's the modern product of the liberals' attempt at explaining a natural social disparity in a spiritual kind of way. Brazil during the 19th century just imitated French secularism, radicalism and positivism. They even had followers of that silly "Religion of Humanity" that Comte created and Allan Kardec is still popular.
