I catch a lot of public transport as my now deleted thread "Australia: the rainbow nation" showcases I'm often one of the few, if not only, white people on the carriage as happened yesterday.
Officially "Asians" make up around 25% of the Melbourne population now, up from 0% 40 years ago. That is officially 1 million out of 4 million but I believe that this is a major under-estimate. This is without counting Africans, Pacific Islanders etc etc.
Melbourne officially has 1.2 million overseas born residents making up around one-third of the population. However even officially two-thirds of many suburbs are populated by migrants.
Yet there are many discrepancies amongst these official figures. The most glaring is the fact that they claim Melbourne only has a Chinese population of 90,000 when it is clearly, at least, many 100,000s. This makes 0 sense since around half of Chinese live in Melbourne & there's officially almost 600,000 Chinese (& 500,000 Indians) in Australia on other indices.
Also, there's around 150,000 property sales in Melbourne with Chinese alone per year making up around 12% of home purchases in Melbourne.
We officially take in 200,000 immigrants per year. Most (if not almost all) settle in Melbourne or Sydney. In fact Melbourne will soon overtake Sydney in population as it now accepts MORE immigrants than Sydney. Chinese are officially the third-highest percentage. However what this figure doesn't take into account is the staggering 600,000 temporary residents per year Australia takes in. Even allowing for the claim that many of these people are simply renewing their residency status this would mean Melbourne must have around 500,000 extra (mostly non-white) residents. This means that the true population of non-whites in Melbourne would be somewhere between 37.5% & 50% depending on the number of temporary visa holders who return to their countries of origin (try getting information on this!) & the true number who arrive each year (again these numbers are purposely hidden from us).
If whites are not a minority in Melbourne today they will be within a decade.
