Crete is obviously similar to Sicily, so this mirrors my estimate of them being halfway between Sicily and Hungary.

Yes even today. Thats why when we are talking about Greek autosomal results it is important to differentiate between the different regions. Macedonians from Grevena, Kozani, Veria, Chalkidiki, southern Serres region, Katerini etc have historically been Greek speakers. Those in Florina, Edessa, and some other more northern parts spoke and continue to speak Slavic. That being said, these results confirm one thing, that these Slavic speakers of northern Greek Macedonia are a Greco/Slav hybrid. They dont seem to be as Slavic as their neighbors to the north who speak the same language.

No one is originally from Thessaloniki, they're parents must have come from other parts of Macedonia, I wouldnt be surprised if they were from a Slavic speaking background like these guys.

I don't know how we can say this conclusively. The results are also similar to people I have posted from Thessaly and from Epirus, I gather these are common results for the northern mainland, which at one point had a much larger Slavic speaking community that assimilated.

At the same time we have to ask ourselves, were the ancient inhabitants of the Florina area Sicilian like? I really doubt it, they were probably even more northern shifted than ancient Greeks who lived further south.
