But you actually raised an interesting point... How do you know where you stand? Measuring the accuracy of one's own assesment of his confidence is very difficult... It requires introspection. Paradoxically introspection actually requires one to stand outside himself and look at himself.. It's mentally analogous to the feeling one gets when the elevator is decelerating.. It requires one to treat himself as if he were a STRANGER...

ego is a good force for motivation which can become success.

i understand what you're saying but no ego sounds a little cuck-like.

Without ego, there's no humanity. Ego and self consciousness is what differs us from other animals.
Ego's responsable of the greatest achievements operated by humanity : science, morality, societies.. are motivated and built around ego. Ego's existence is why humans are the most developed and advanced species on Earth... paradoxically, ego's also responsable of the fall of many civilizations : egocentrism and pride are always confronted to others's egocentrism & prides... the biggest mistake of the Ego is to underestimate others's/think it is alone and succumbs to vanity.
Ego is constructive AND destructive at the same time... Finding the right balance isn't easy. The understanding of ego's issues/ratio of powers and the awareness of other's egos might be helpful. This is what most religions tried to give, through their parables, precepts, values etc... by regulating human's egos. The question of ego is approached in ALL beliefs and always existed because Ego is humanity itself.
Ego is necessary to Humans, to our primitive instinct of survival. Ego gives a purpose to life.
Ego's death only allows you to not fear a physical death... but without ego, you are already dead inside.

Some of you take yourselves way too seriously.
It's more fun getting what you want while still being you. That's a big price to pay if you have to play being something you are not I think.

You guys spend too much time inside your own heads. Go get some summer loving or do something productive.

I definitely had it too after I realized a lot of the things that were hidden from me and sugarcoated in my childhood weren't true...and that people aren't as nice as they seem! It also came when realized my comparative social status was much LOWER than I originally thought, I had wrongly thought before that being a good person and being loyal to others would make me more popular and admirable but sadly that is not how the world works, superficial traits and materialism matter more for true social status. I also experienced an additional ego death when I realized my sister was able to breeze through interviews without even trying, when I could not get a job even after building up extensive experience, practicing interviews, and researching the company.

I also had a second ego death when I created my Facebook and posted my first photo, which imo wasn't that bad at all I had nice clothes on and a decent background but only got 7 or so likes. While this absolutely stupid mean annoying attractive SJW slut bitch (I had the misfortune of knowing her in real life) with big boobs got 80 likes on a lame selfie....and I was told it was because I was bad at taking photos when I discussed this with someone which I knew was just sugarcoating like come on. Also I did NOT mean to sound hateful towards all women with big boobs with that comment I do not dislike other women solely for having big boobs.

So yeah these experiences have made me feel and realize I'm very far from a special snowflake.....and they've also made me more distant with myself as well. I've also been more confused about myself ever since, and I often try to imagine myself with a different experience and upbringing. But I could say I still have an ego in the sense that I am highly motivated and hard working when I get into something or want something.

In a way I'm glad I now have a truthful awareness of the world as I can now try new methods of overcoming these obstacles and knowing that not everything is my fault. But now I also sympathize with other people better. I'm hoping soon enough I don't feel lost anymore.

I think my examples are probably atypical though, I can think of more but I think I've shared enough.
    =(^.^)=

Also I don't do classifications currently, sorry.

Everyone starts off with an ego to a greater or lesser degree which usually gets readjusted by reality, some for the better, others for the worse.
