Latinos often mistake me for white Murican, whereas white Muricans don't question me if I don't open my mouth. However, when they notice my foreign accent, they very often ask me if I'm Russian, no kidding.

this has been my experience, except that I don't have an accent, so I'm never mistaken for a foreigner.

one difference is that East Asians tend to assume I'm Indian, and even some Indians assume I'm Indian. a few blacks have told me I look Native American. go figure

I think Brazilians have a very bad taste for dressing generally, Americans as well. People here are obsessed with some kind of looks and to fit in this. There's a mainstream male and female look that is similar to what you described.

I'm glad Brazil is not a world power, Brazilian mainstream culture is pretty dumb, almost as dumb as American culture. Just imagine all this stupidity being exported all over the world... Telenovelas, vulgar girls, pop stars etc. At least I don't need to be ashamed of it, since no one knows these things exist in Brazil (they generally think the whole place is a jungle).
