I love the proposal! Finally, Trump is focusing his energy on something I can support, rather than trying to strip millions of Americans of health insurance. Slash immigration numbers in general and favor white immigrants, or at least immigrants more assimilable to white America. Music to my ears.

No. Not true in the last 30 years european immigrants were rejected greencards more than any other race in the world coming in to US.

Hmm... an immigration system that actually benefits the host nation. Imagine that! God forbid you import people with socio-economic mobility interested in integrating into American society

Canada and Australia already have a merit-based immigration system and it seems to work fine. Mass low-skilled migration at a time when low-skilled jobs are increasingly automating and disappearing is completely irresponsible. A skill-based system is a worthy long-term investment. Critics will call it xenophobic, but I think this law is based in changing economic realities.

Anyway, it's pretty unlikely the bill will pass.
