Again, had I any say, I'd send your country the required money, twofold so long as it was spent on national infrastructure and whatnot. The trouble with American foreign aid, there's so much of it, it's usually wasted by corrupt politicians, etc.

Serbian-American relations began in the 1870s/1880s and were very, very good up till the period of the World Wars and the Cold War. I'm sorry to say, but I consider Serbia falling under the influence of Russia to be a rather unfortunate event.

Why is that unfortunate? The Russians have done nothing but help us. They first started by liberating us from Ottoman rule then later the Nazis (indirectly). Russia today is promising to invest $10 billion (with a sizable fraction of it going to the military) in Serbia. Can America say the same? Probably not and not likely until America has a president that doesn't pander to every single Arab and African states out there.

Default Dutch anti-Islam politician acquitted of hate speech

A Dutch court acquitted right-wing politician Geert Wilders of hate speech and discrimination Thursday, ruling that his anti-Islam statements, while offensive to many Muslims, fell within the bounds of legitimate political debate.

Judge Marcel van Oosten said Wilders's claims that Islam is violent by nature, and his calls to halt Muslim immigration and ban the Muslim holy book, the Qur'an, must be seen in a wider context of debate over immigration policy.

The Amsterdam court said his public statement could not be directly linked to increased discrimination against Dutch Muslims.

Wilders sat stone-faced while the judge read the ruling, but smiled broadly and shook hands with his lawyers after the verdict was announced. He waved to cheering supporters who hugged each other in the public gallery, and grinned as he left the courtroom.

Wilders, one of the most powerful and popular politicians in the Netherlands, was accused of inciting hatred and discrimination against Muslims through numerous public statements, and with insulting them by comparing Islam with the Nazi movement.

"I'm incredibly happy with this acquittal on all counts," Wilders said outside the courtroom. "It's not only an acquittal for me, but a victory for freedom of expression in the Netherlands. Fortunately you're allowed to discuss Islam in public debate and you're not muzzled in public debate. An enormous burden has fallen from my shoulders," he said.
    Appeal to UN commission considered

Groups that filed the complaints against Wilders that ultimately led to his prosecution said they were disappointed with the ruling.

Lawyer Ties Prakken, who represented some complainants, was quoted by local media as saying Dutch courts are failing to protect a religious minority from discrimination. With legal avenues in the Netherlands exhausted, she said she's preparing an appeal to the UN Commission on Human Rights in Geneva.

The court found that Wilders's rhetoric was "on the edge of what is legally permissible" but not illegal.

The judge described statements about a "tsunami" of immigrants as "crude and denigrating," but legally legitimate given wider context and his acknowledgment that those who integrate are acceptable and do not call for violence.

In speeches, written articles and a short film that incited riots around the Muslim world, Wilder said Islam is an inherently violent religion, and he compared the Qur'an with Mein Kampf, Hitler's tirade against Jews — an especially touchy image because of the large number of Dutch Jews handed over to the Nazis in the Second World War.

The court paid special attention to Wilders's 2008 film, Fitna, Arabic for "ordeal" — a 15-minute series of verses from the Qur'an alongside news video of violence and terrorism. The film prompted angry demonstrations and official protests around the Muslim world.

"Given the film in its whole and the context of societal debate, the court finds that there is no question of inciting hate with the film Fitna," the judgment said.

Wilders argued that his statements represent the views of millions of Dutch voters, that they are protected by freedom of speech law, and that the court is biased against him, while the charges are politically motivated.

Even the prosecutors called for his acquittal, saying that his remarks may be offensive, but they are part of legitimate political debate. Despite their reluctance, the judges ruled last year that the case should be put to a judicial test and Wilders should be prosecuted.

Default US lobbyists make large donations to PVV, says former MP

US lobbyists make large donations to PVV, says former MP

American lobbyists make large donations to a foundation set up by the anti-immigration PVV, Hero Brinkman, the MP who left the party on Tuesday, told a television talk show on Tuesday evening.

Brinkman said he could not rule out the money being used to pay for Geert Wilders' defence on racial hatred charges but declined to comment further on what the money had been spent on. Nor would he comment on the size of the donations.

The PVV is thought to generate significant funding from Israeli and far-right supporters in the US.

    No members

Because the PVV has no members, it does not receive government subsidies to run the campaigning side of its operations and relies instead on donations. The parliamentary party is fully funded by the state.

Brinkman also gave the Pauw & Witteman show more information about the PVV's website to collect complaints about eastern and central European nationals. One of the reasons he stepped down from the party was that he disagreed with the website.

Brinkman, a former policeman, said the website had recieved at least 100,000 hits, half of which were complaints about the site itself. Only a fraction of the total were actual complaints, the MP said.

    Democracy

Brinkman, an MP for the PVV since 2006, told a news conference he had quit the party because he can no longer accept the lack of democracy within the organisation and the way different groups in society are constantly being singled out for criticism.

His decision means the ruling alliance – the minority cabinet plus PVV – no longer has a majority in parliament, although Brinkman said he will remain an independent MP and would continue to support the government.

If it would be possible to produce evidence of this (and since the PVV is the only political organisation (as it is not a party in the classical, legal sense) that is against the mandatory publication of donations and who doesn't have any members and bans party democracy) then I believe that it should be possible to take this organisation to court or to the High Council and have her banned as the PVV has then proven to be a threat to the rule of law and Dutch democracy.

Maybe the time is there for Dutch nationalists/patriots to form their own political party.

A political organisation that has this flag in his office:

(and yes Mr. Brinkman had one too

But removes the Dutch flag should not be trusted anyway.

At the risk of sounding cynical: a certain Austrian painter made good speeches as well.. and for the first few years had the policies to match them. I have seen nothing of that sort with Mr. Wilders.
