I often go to Kaufland and Real in Germany, and the quality is quite poor but it's cheap. I've heard that Delhaize tried to enter the German market especially in Westphalia, and they had to give up after a while because Germans just wouldn't go there, because it's not German. Stupid since Delhaize is ten times better quality than Kaufland or Real, but it seems Germans are chauvinistic. The only people who moaned about Delhaize being over are the foreign expats.

You even have Albert Heijn? We only have that for less than a decade here.

I remember on a forum a Belgian nationalist who isn't keen on the idea. "The day the Greater Netherlands get formed is the day we'll see an Albert Heijn open here."

What' s wrong with Albert Heijn? From what i remember it looked pretty decent concerning the brands they were selling and the general hygiene inside the selling spaces.Also pretty convenient that it sells tobacco products

About their goofy appearance and friendliness, right? Well we call it 'gezelligheid' which loosely translate to 'cosiness', an aspect some people find too much present among Dutchmen to their liking.
