The Stoa of Attalus is an hellenistic monumental porticoe given by Attalus II of Pergamon (159-138 BC) to the city of Athens, as a gift for the education he had received there. It was rebuilt between 1953 and 1956 and now houses the Ancient Agora Museum.

Default Museum of the City of Athens - Vouros-Eutaxias

I have been trying to source pictures of the interior of this remarkable museum, one of the most elegant that I have seen.

It was the former provisional palace of Otto I and Amalia, and is literally 18th Century Greek revival.

Lots of trompe l'oeil, perfect symmetry... any pics please add:

Here is a virtual tour - the juicy interiors can be viewed here:

    http://www.athenscitymuseum.gr/tour/...urVE-k7-f1.htm

Note the lack of plasterwork, with painted detailing in its place, along the axis of each wall. Very smart.

Lovely, but there seem to be no sizeable jpgs to be found anywhere.

    German Greek Revival

You would love my current workplace then: it's the tower built for Amalia in the western suburbs of Athens. Her stables are also well preserved, still keeping horses

I have been inside the tower! up
