Are South Slavs closer to Italians (Romance peoples in general) or North Slavs?

The way this question is worded does not make any sense, because there are parts of Italy that are closer genetically to Balkan Slavs than to Iberians or French.

Isn't that basically the same result as for eurogenes k36?

Other southern Slavs / Serbs have similar result, more significant matches in central Europe including Poland (I have significant matches in Germany too) compared to Italy south. North Italy has more significant matches for us but less than Poland for most of Serbian results as far as I saw in the thread.

The fact you cluster with Ukrainians doesn't mean you don't cluster with Northern Italians. People so easily ignore 4th-6th century chaos
and mass migrations. Whole nations were running from one location to another. That's why I prefer Haplogroups study over Autosomal results.

We can't study haplogroups without knowledge of migrations unfortunately.
