If you would be Karolkiewicz, you also
would claim Germanness of your forefather?
This is exactly the same situation.
Who cares?but I certainly am partially German through other bloodlines,
Polish/slavic origin based/containing german first name. SurnameI'm just saying that the name is of German origin, and it's hardly popular when only 1000 people bear it in Poland.
originated in Poland/slavic speaking area. Not a name which was
built on, and which could be used by anyone. I know even a guy
who has a surname equal to scandinavian first name, but he isn't
certainly of scandinavian origin, and that name is no longer used,
it sounds like some viking remains, when in reality it was even a
quite popular name in medieval Poland. He has not even a suffix
as you have, which would be suggesting polishness.

My surname is typically Swedish. Ends with SSON, just like Finnish Swede's.

My paternal surname is Italian, with higher frequency in Basilicata, but also present through many Italian regions from north to south (more so in the western Italian coasts: Campania, Lazio, Tuscany, Liguria, Lombardia, etc).
My maternal surname is very uncommon (my Spanish mom is from Mallorca, but even in there is very unknown).

Hiberno-Norman (of Anglo-Norman origin): habitational name from a town in Suffolk, England. This is named with an Old English name. It has a Norwegian Americanized form, a habitational name from any of eight farms in southeastern Norway, named with an Old Norse name. There is also a German variant of the surname.
So its origin is Norman rather than Anglo-Saxon.
