5% is not the average actually for TURKS. But it could be the average for TURKEY. Turks often score a lot more than 5%.

In this study for example Turks (Including one Kurd and one guy from Artvin) are between 5%-21.7% Asian
Turks from Aydın compared to Istanbul Turks and "National Average"
And about Western Turks scoring more Asiatic dna than other Turks, i really don't know. But as far as i know Mongols pushed Turkmen tribes to Western Anatolia from Eastern and Central Anatolia. Maybe that could be the reason.

In that link for example the most mongoloid Turk is from Western Turkey (Sakarya, 16-18% mongoloid). I think i have to read more about Turkish history to find out why Western Turks are more "pure" compared to other Turks.

Where is he from? Adiyaman? Most of the Turks there have meddish anatolid faces with some slight asian admix which gaves them a softer faces .

A friend of mine has just got results his third population match is Uzbek Tashkent .
We don't know what is sample population representing Uzbek Tashkent in Mdlp 23 (His first population distance is Azerbaycan )
