6 days after the military coup of Juan Velasco Alvarado in 1968, he orders our military the expropriation of the Talara oil refinery, owned by the International Petroleum Company, which had been illegally extracting oil from our soil with the US government's support for decades. At the time of the expropriation, they owed us about 300 million dollars of the time, if I'm not mistaken.
