More then half of Croatia is in the Carpathian Basin, so predominately central europe even geographically speaking.

It's the same everywhere in western Europe. One thing that is sometimes skewed as well is trying to present that as a objective fact.
However, in reality Europe will always be and has always been one entity. The divisions are subjective, especially in terms of shit like southeastern Europe, central Europe, western Europe etc. Today it just so happens that there are two main divisions. Western Europe is Austria and everything west of it and eastern Europe is everything east of it. It's straight up autism and doesn't hold water unless people believe it. It's just like I can say that I'm the king Oslo, but if no one respects my authority, the self-proclaimed title is worthless. No one in their right mind would consider these folks western as of today so they don't get the benefits of being considered western. Simple as that really. Romania is actually a really good example of this. Region-autists can't make up their mind on where it is located.
