I come from a long line of folk healers, yet it was somewhat of a surprise to find a regionally famous Saami Shaman/Noide and a Karelian ‘Noita’ + some well-known Rune Singers in the family tree …
Other than that they were hunters, farmers, small industrialists, shopkeepers and ‘laukkuryssäs’= wandering traders of Karelian origin even though they were called “Russians” by Finns. laukku (bag) +‎ ryssä (Russian).

One my great great great grandpa was bagpiper, which is interesting, since bagpipes are not so popular in Serbia but they were popular in SE Serbia. I'm huge fan of bagpipes.
My paternal great great grandpa was loanshark, i still keep all documents from 1890s.

My great-grandparents were Polish migrant workers in Germany. Great-grandpa worked in the coal mines in Poland (Silesia) and got black lung disease. He and my great grandmother moved to Germany and worked in the fields harvesting I-don't-know-what. My grandfather was a butcher. He also made his own vodka from potatoes and slaughtered pigs on the quiet during the War, which he sold without the authorities finding out.

As for my father's side, I have no idea.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, my other great-grandfather was a carpenter and undertaker. Amongst other stuff, he made coffins.

My great-grandfather's occupations were listed as "labor" and "servant" when he was 14! I thought that slavery was illegal in the Twentieth Century.

Cool, I never asked, but thought that you may have some Polish ancestry (sorry if you already wrote it somewhere here and I didn't see it).
    That's also why you're Catholic?
