Abruzzo People Stubborn and Cold!!

I have to say my Abruzzo Italian relatives from L'Aqulia were very cold and stubborn people. They were not sensitive and family loving like you see as stereotypical Italians. Even among death they rarely would ever cried in front of people.

I grew up in this environment and remember not crying when my grandfather died and I rarely show emotion or sensitivity which sometimes causes tension in my relationships.

Has any other experienced the same thing??

Were they like Livia from the first seasons of the Sopranos?

Livia's type of personality is not uncommon for Italian American women. Most people think Italians are family oriented and loving people. Some will back stab their own family in the snap of their finger.
