I don't hate the Beetles, but I was "woke" you could say, to their mediocrity. I remember back in the late 1980s when I was a child, there was a nostalgia for the Hippie Era, and I got my First Beetles CD's. Everything from their boy band days, to the pseudo psychedelic Era. I was interested in them for nostalgia purposes. To a 9 year old, all that seems intriguing. In things that happened before I was born. But then I grew up, and realized, they weren't so great. By the time I was 17, I was like "Who are the Beetles? " And they just don't do anything for me. Nothing. They are like the McDonald's of music. They are enjoyable for a short time but then you want to get it out of your system.

I've seen people calling even worse things.
But I think he was referring to them as mediocre musicians, wasn't it?
I mean, compare John and George and Paul from what they did with the Beatles to the best (technically) guitar and bass players ever... and I won't even mention Ringo.

Not to mention their vocals. Were they really good vocalists? No. Not even harmonies. The Beach Boys had them beat by a mile.

I would mention that. Technically, they were surpassed even by some generation folks like the Beach Boys or The Who.
    But again, technically.
I'm not fond of the Beatles, just some songs. My dad is a big fan and some might thing "Oh, that's why you don't like them, daddy issues." I love my dad and we share the same taste for other bands like Queen (from the majors, to me the real best band ever), Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath or Pink Floyd.

But if not the best, Beatles are definitely the greatest for what they achieved.
And when it comes to writing, I think Paul is one of the tops.
